Frequently Asked Questions about Watering:

How do I properly water a succulent ?

Water your succulents when substrate is completely dry. The best way to water a succulent is by basining, i.e. by letting the pot soak in a few centimetres of water, so that it can slowly rise by capillaryness in the substrate. Once the substrate is completely wet, the pot should be removed from the remaining water bottom and drained. It is absolutely not advisable to leave the pot on a saucer continuously filled with water as this can cause rot!!!

When and how often do you water a succulent ?

FOR RECALL: when talking about succulents, it's better NOT ASSOCIATE than TROP d'eau!!!

It is considered that indoor heated, there is no season, so watering frequencies will be once a month in winter and 2x a month in summer.

For interiors not heated : In winter, no watering if temperatures fall below 5°C. In summer: water about 2-3 times a month.

Outside in your garden or on your balcony: no need to water them! The weather will load very well on its own !

In all cases heat wave if the substrate is too dry, you can water 1x per week.

PS: Here we give you the theoretical frequencies of watering succulents. But these can vary depending on the temperature, the hygrometry, the size of your pots.

Frequently asked questions about exposure:

Are my succulents suitable for direct sun exposure ?

Most succulents enjoy the direct sun, but they have to get used to it gradually to avoid burns. Yeah! Plants can also catch sunburns! A week of rehabilitation will therefore be recommended when a succulent is transferred from the house to the garden. Start by going outside in a shaded corner and avoid the burning sun of the afternoon.

Obviously, this is also valid when you order succulents from us! When you unpack your fat little plants from their cartons, think that they have spent a few days in full black. Please do not expose them too quickly to the sun

Can I grow succulent indoors ?

Yes, succulents adapt perfectly well to indoor culture as long as they receive enough light. Place them near a window facing south or west for optimal lighting. If this is not possible, invest in UV lamps to remedy this lack.

Frequently Asked Questions about Winter:

Place them in a bright place, away from cold air currents, at home, in a veranda or in a cold greenhouse. Reduce watering considerably (about 1x per month). Protect them from frosts with a wintering veil if they are outside.

What is the best temperature to grow succulents ?

The succulents will develop at best between 15°C and 27°C. In winter, avoid exposure to temperatures below 10°C for sensitive species.

FOR RECALL: succulent plants are called "gelive", i.e. it does not support frost! In winter it is therefore mandatory to put your oily plants home, in a veranda or a cold greenhouse

Frequently asked questions about substrate and pots:

Should I take over my succulent after the purchase? If so, when and how ?

It all depends on the growth state of the roots in the pot: remove the substrate and plant from its growing pot. If you judge what needs a small repotting use a succulent special mixture and a pot with a drainage hole. Repot a few weeks after his arrival at home to not stress her too much.

Otherwise you can also make your own mix: 1⁄3 drainer (river sand for example, which you will find very easily in gardening), 1⁄3 of good garden land, 1⁄3 of so-called "geranium" substrate (also available in gardening)

2. Recurring problems with succulents

Why are the leaves of my succulent soft or translucent ?

This may indicate excess water. Let the substrate dry completely before watering again, and check the pot drainage.

Otherwise, it could also be due to the cold attack on your succulents. If you left your succulents out and there was a frost, some of these symptoms may appear. Go back to the shelter immediately

Why is my succulent white, skeptical and deforming, pushing up like a cauliflower ?

It lacks light. Place it in a brighter place, ideally near a well-exposed window or outside if temperature permits

( CAUTION, however, at sunburn! See question above Are succulents suitable for direct suns

How do I know if my succulent lacks light ?

Signs include stretched growth, pale leaves or stems that bend towards light. Some of our customers speak of a cauliflower-shaped rosette

How to treat succulent with black spots or signs of rot ?

Cut the affected parts with a clean and sterilized tool.Let the plant dry a few days before replanting in a dry substrate.

We know it hurts the heart... But don't hesitate to re-cut the healthy parts of your fat plants if the infection is too present.

What if my succulent is infested with chicks or other pests ?

We wrote a whole article about the chicks on our blog: Take a look at it by clickinghere ?

Why doesn't my succulent grow or seem stagnant ?

It can be in rest, lack of light or suffer from too poor substrate. Make sure that it is well maintained and adapted to its environment.

Are my succulent flowers? How to promote flowering ?

Yes, except for exeption, all the succulent bloom! But for that they will need to feel the change of seasons. Cultivated in an indoor heated all year round, in a fireplace where the temperature is constant will make flowering your succulents difficult, see impossible. To remedie this, do not hesitate to store your succulent winters in a veranda, a cold greenhouse, or an unheated room because a drop in temperatures during winter periods (around 10/5° ) is indispensable

How to save a succulent in bad condition ?

Identify the cause (excess water, lack of light, parasites). Cut and cutting damaged parts, let them dry before replanting in a suitable substrate.

Why are the leaves of my succulent falling? What to do ?

Before all things, succulents are plants, so it is normal that leaves fall. An Aeonium that grows, for example, will lose its leaves and that is normal.

For other succulents who will lose their leaves abnormally, causes may include excess or lack of water, stress due to environmental change or lack of light. Adjust the growing conditions.

3. Ordering issues

Why can't I place an order when the total of my basket is not above 17€ ?

It's a choice we made for two reasons:

- ecological aspect: it seems crazy to prepare packages or the value in plant is lower than the cost of transport and packaging. This does not seem to us to be coherent and responsible.

- economic aspect: It takes so long to prepare a package containing a plant or 10 plants. Outside a package containing a single small plant is not remunerative for us. Who produce, grow and ship them. ????

What accessories do you propose to maintain my succulents ?

We offer pots, substrates, gardening tools, and practical guides (depending on stock available)

Are you offering gift boxes ?

Yes, we offer gift boxes, perfect to offer succulents. Gift cards are also available

4. Transport issues

How long does it take to receive my order ?

Orders are usually prepared within 1 to 7 days. Once the package has been delivered to the carrier, it will usually take 2 to 3 days to arrive in good port! If the delay is longer, we don't have a hand on it, so we'll have to contact the carrier.

How are succulents packed to avoid damage during transport ?

To best protect your (future) small protected ones, we pack them in handkerchiefs and newspaper to protect their leaves and roots. Then they are placed in the package and set with bubble paper and biodegradable starch. The secret of a successful package is that nothing moves in the package! Thanks to Cécile's 12 years of experience, we know that your succulents will always arrive in good health and proper port !

How do I deal with my succulents immediately after their reception ?

Once your oily plants come out of their package, let them rest for 1 to 2 days before watering them, so that they can adapt to their new environment.

Also think that they have spent a few days in complete darkness. Please do not expose them too quickly to the sun. ( CF question of the top )

Do you guarantee the survival of plants during transport ?

Yes, we guarantee healthy plants on arrival. In case of problems, contact us quickly.

What if a succulent arrives damaged or an order is incomplete ?

5. Our ecological commitments

Are your succulents cultivated ecologically ?

In our nursery, we respect the vegetative cycles of our fat plants, and we do not force their growth even in winter! Our greenhouses are almost not heated even in cold weather. For 5 years, we have only installed the heating for 3 days.

We are committed to preserving the ecosystem in our nursery and garden. We have already been able to observe the presence of Salamandre or marbled tritons (which is a protected species) on our land. We regularly see fascinating species of butterflies like the Machaon or the Blue Argus and an incredible insect population! To avoid damaging this rich and diverse fauna, when we treat, it is always sparingly, and only with UAB treatments (Utilisable in Organic Agriculture). For example, against pests, aphids, cochenilles, we favour the use of biological control treatments

Do you use chemicals in the production of your succulents ?

Since 2023, we have maintained a policy without chemical treatment on the farm: fertilizers, herbicides, fungicides, insecticides are banned to protect biodiversity and protect our health. When we treat, it is always sparingly, and only with UAB (Utilizable in Organic Agriculture) treatments. We believe in a nature-friendly approach.
